Libyan Navy ship "Ibn Ouf " to be used as COVID-19 isolation and quarantine center

Libya 25.03.20 - On orders of Libyan Navy Chief of Staff  the "Ibn Ouf" ship will be converted to a stationary clinic and quarantine in case of #COVID19 outbreak. Necessary preparation and supplies for time of emergency are currently underway.























































[UPDATE] 31.03.20 - In response to #COVID19 Libyan Navy commenced with preparation of "Ibn Ouf" to fulfill a role of clinic and quarantine in case of emergency. The ship has a capacity of 210 beds, refrigerators, stores and a small clinic therefore can be used as a mobile hospital.

[UPDATE] 09.04.20 - Despite challenging circumstances and ongoing clashes conversion of the Libyan Navy ship "Ibn Ouf" to a mobile emergency hospital continues at a fast pace. The ship will be fitted with 36 rooms each equipped with bed, ventilator and other medical devices needed for necessary care of patients. Work is scheduled for completion in 10 days.

Libyan Coast Guard in 7 separate SAR Ops rescued 406 migrants

🔴 SAR Op 14.03.2020 - Libyan Coast Guard ships "Fezzan" and "Ras Jadar" rescued in 7 separate operations 406 migrants including women and children. All rescued disembarked safely in Tripoli. Upon medical and humanitarian assistance migrants were transferred to Immigration Detention Center for processing and accommodation.

According to information provided by IOM Libya some migrants managed to escape at  disembarkation point.

Stranded migrants transferred to UNHCR transit center in Niamey, Niger

Prof. Egbert Jahn: "End the symbiosis of traffickers and NGOs!"

Prof. Egbert Jahn in an article published in German newspaper "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" calls to end the symbiosis in the Mediterranean between traffickers and NGOs. He refers to the so-called "sea rescue" conducted by NGOs as collateral damage and morality of selective humanity with barbaric impact!

Italian Police arrested 2 traffickers in Pozzallo who were on board  "Ocean Viking" among the 276 migrants disembarked on 23rd February.

UNHCR: 2168 migrants rescued by Libyan Coast Guard

























The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has announced that the Libyan Coast Guard rescued 2168 migrants at sea attempting to make their way to Europe.

UNHCR remarked that a group of the rescued migrants were brought to Tripoli port, noting that 34 migrants had been transferred from the Assembly and Departure Centre in Tripoli to Misrata.

It indicated that they have registered 2696 asylum seekers in Libya since the start of this year.

UNHCR added that according to their records, 344 of those seeking asylum during the past days, are mostly from Syria, Sudan, Palestine, Eritrea, Somalia and Ethiopia.
