The Munich Police has no record of any death threats issued against Bishop Heinrich Bedford-Strohm

* Germany 20.01.20 - According to the Press Office of the Munich Police Headquarters from January 20, 2020 there are no investigations pending into presumable “death threats” against Bishop Heinrich Bedford-Strohm of Evangelical Church with seat in Munich. Also none that is or was connected in any way to the engagement in matters of the sea rescue. None up to date and not throughout the entire 2019!

France’s interior minister says some aid groups operating in the Mediterranean Sea sometimes act like accomplices to human traffickers.

Minister Christophe Castaner pointed at “a real collusion between smugglers and some NGOs,” including through phone contacts to “facilitate the migrants’ departure from Libyan coasts in appalling conditions.”

The comments at a G-7 meeting in Paris are similar to those of his Italian counterpart, Matteo Salvini, who reaffirmed his hard-line stance on immigration.

Sudanese-Libyan joint forces patrol rescued 107 migrants abandoned in the desert

19.01.20 - Sudanese-Libyan joint forces patrol rescued in Dongola border region 107 migrants of different nationalities who were abandoned in the desert by traffickers without food or water. Migrants upon medical assistance and humanitarian aid were transferred to Dongola Immigration Police Dept. for processing & accommodation.

30 irregular migrants transferred to Kufra Immigration Shelter scheduled for repatriation

* Libya 20.01.20 - 30 irregular migrants including 11 women and 5 children of Sudanese and Chadian nationality transferred from Benghazi Immigration Detention Center to Kufra Immigration Shelter are scheduled for repatriation to respective countries.

Kufra DCIM administration expressed its concern especially for the welfare of large number of women and children transferred in winter season due to lack of proper facilities and support of relevant authorities and international humanitarian organizations.

* [UPDATE] 22.01.20 - Libyan Red Crescent team conducted medical check up and needs assessment prior to repatriation of 10 women & 5 children transferred from Qanfudah branch / Benghazi to Kufra Immigration Shelter.
